Where Is The Best Place To Catch Bullfrogs?

Where is the best place to catch bullfrogs

Where is the best place to catch bullfrogs?

Where is the best place to catch Bullfrogs?  The quick answer is permanent shallower vegetative fresh water banks.  BUT the best place is the one secret spot that gives you the biggest, fattest, most volume and the easiest to catch Bullfrogs in the least amount of time.........right?  That is the wishful answer for anybody heading out to catch or gig frogs or bullfrogs basically.  But that isn't always the case and you usually have to put some effort into catching and hunting or gigging bullfrogs.  So where is the best place to go to catch bullfrogs, well that is any fresh body of water with good vegetation and shallow banks at the basic level but we will get into more ideal places below as we talk you through where some of the best places to go catch your bullfrogs are.

Where is the best place to catch bullfrogs.

When seeking out where the best place or places to go to catch bullfrogs, you have a lot of options.  You literally don't have to go very far because as long as you have good warm or hot humid weather preferably at night and some fresh water that has some vegetation, you should find yourself some bullfrogs that you can go and catch by any means that is legal in your state.  You can catch or hunt or go gigging during the day for bullfrogs but it is going to be easier if you do it during the night time dark hours as they are easier to spot and hear.  Bullfrogs are out of their cold weather "hibernating" when the outside temperatures warm up and and so does the water temps.  All about this same time that the bullfrogs are out they are eating ALL of the time to survive and getting fat and plump and also they are out during the spring and early summer trying to mate with female bullfrogs.  You can hear their matting calls as they are a very distinct very very bassy BELLO type sound.  It's not your typical ribbit ribbit croaking sound that you think of from frogs.  Thats just one of the main indicators of bullfrogs when you are out trying to catch or hunt bullfrogs is to look out for or to listen for them.

Keeping all of the above in mind when attempting to catch bullfrogs and adding to that literally any wet, marshy, pond, still water, slower flowing river, lake or something simular that has plenty of vegetation and or growth or lillies etc etc will be a place looking at.  If you head to one of these places and specifically look for bull frogs to catch, this may be your next best place to go to know that is is indeed the best place to go frog hunting or catching in your area.  Usually he larger the water area the better as you will have more real estate for the frogs to live and mate and reproduce.  Also you can head out pre hunting or and just take a good spot light to shine around and look for the bullfrogs glowing eyes and also for the famous bullfrog deep bassy BELLOW sound and call and this will give you an indicator about how populated that area is or is not.  All of this plays into where the best place is to catch bullfrogs.

Where is the best place to catch bullfrogs?

When looking for where is the best place to go frog catching is, the Frogs will usually be on the shore very very close to the waters edge hunting for food and of a bullfrog mate.  Many of the frogs will also be in the shallow waters near the shore or close to floating vegetation inland or lillies and could be out deeper if there is a lot of floating vegetation like water lillies that they can hang onto and to hide in and on.  If you venture to a river to catch bullfrogs, the frogs will most likely be on the shore and banks because the water current would be too fast for them to hunt in.  These are some of the places to consider when asking where is the best place to go catch your frogs or bullfrogs hunting.  If you start at any of the above locations, you can't go wrong.  But we are sure that some of them will be better than others.  So a bit of recon and trial and error should give you a good feeling and sense of where of the places you are scoping out may be the best.

Where is the best place to catch bullfrogs?

When you are trying to determine where the best place to go and catch some bullfrogs is, don't just hunt or gig in the same spot.  Head out and recon or ask around to your friends family or fishing buddies to see if they know of some good potential spots.  As we talked about above some, simply take your spot light and head out to some of the new spots or literally just drive around and recon to see if you can find some of the best spots to catch your big fat bullfrogs.  If you go at night time and use your spot light just as if you were spotting bullfrogs on a hunting trip but this time you are just looking for their glowing eyes and not trying to gig them.  This will give you more spots to hunt and gig and may just end up being your new best place to hunt or gig frogs.  If you are gigging smaller areas or water you may kind of hunt the frogs out of population, so move around or find some of the larger bodies or water so that you know that there is always a fresh supply of BIG bullfrogs for the taking. Its the difference in hunting a tiny marsh spot or a big spot out in the Everglades!! Hopefully the above gives your some idea of where is the best place to catch bullfrogs.
